Summer Solstice night ride - London to Hastings

United Kingdom ยท June 20 2020

Ride through the shortest night of the year, see the sunrise out of the sea and dip our bodies in the big blue

Overview

The Solstice marks the end of spring and the arrival of summer, with the sun at its highest point providing the most daylight we get all year. What better excuse to stay up all night!

Our Night Ride is around 75 undulating miles, through the night, with over 100 fellow cyclists joining you.

We'll be departing from the Rye pub in Peckham at 9:30pm. The pub has a big public grassy area on the other side of the road in front of it, which is ideal for us to gather there and use the pub if you need the toilet or any food before leaving. We'll be gathering there from 8:30pm.

The route will take us south through the beautiful village of Westerham. Here will be our last opportunity to stop for snack, water and maybe a cheeky pint. We'll meet at the pub The Grasshopper on the Green, last orders are at midnight.

We'll then continue the ride through the night until we arrive at Hastings catching the sunrise in the saddle. We arrange for a sea front cafe to open early ensuring we're able to get a hearty breakfast.

The train back to London from Hastings takes around 1 hour 45 minutes. The first train runs at 5.20am and is every 20 minutes thereafter.

Bring friends. Bring snacks. Most of all bring yourself and leave a little room for the magic of the solstice to take hold ;-)

*Please note that this is an unsupported ride; you'll need to be carrying with you everything you'll need. Tyre levers, pump, inner tubes, lights, warm clothes, food, liquids, and cash.
